 Artist Statement

Artist Statement I am a storyteller, and through my art, I share the journey of my transformation from Engineer to Artist.

Each embossed piece, jewelry creation, and photograph reflects my brain's neuroplastic and the connections I perceive in the world.

After my brain injury, neurorehabilitation opened my eyes to the fluidity of life, allowing me to create from the heart.

Every piece I produce is infused with purpose, as I donate all net proceeds to support others with nervous system conditions, helping them access the neurorehabilitation that has been so vital for me.

SAD BUT GREAT STORY THAT HAS NOT ENDED YET!

At fifty-something, while working as a Project Manager for a large engineering firm, I started experiencing severe headaches.

One day, I fainted during an HR meeting, and after an extensive search for, I was diagnosed with Hemiplegic Migraines, marking the of my health struggles. You would think that having a diagnosis would make finding a solution easier, but unfortunately, I ended up with a doctor who was more focused on experimenting than healing. His misguided treatment to a Traumatic Brain Injury when he improperly an experimental drug into my spine, resulting in a series of strokes.

Eventually, I found the right doctor who truly saved my life. Despite the damage to my brain, he guided me through rehabilitation, teaching me the neuroplasticity necessary for recovery.

During treatment, I began making jewelry, starting with a simple beaded pendant and quickly progressing to over 2,000 individual pieces, which I had to give away due to the volume.

My creative journey expanded into art photography, leather work, metal work, and resin designs, and even landscape design!

I've been writing poetry since elementary school, and my passion developed further in 1982 til infinity. I'm excited to publish a poetry book with a fantastic self-publishing editor.

Additionally, I've created a USTOP trademark name "Gemassist," a logo, and even a NEW Patented Pendant, which I believe will be a success.

After a life full of adventures, moments of self-pity are inevitable, but I always rise again, focusing on creating joy and helping others through my work.
